NYSARC Trust Services supports the Arc of Rensselaer County with $47,944 in Grants.

The Arc of Rensselaer County, a not-for-profit organization supporting people with disabilities in Rensselaer county, has been awarded $35,580 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support The Arc of Rensselaer County’s guardianship and $12,444 for the support of the recreation programs.

NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts (SNT) and pooled trusts that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities by enabling individuals to maintain financial eligibility for Medicaid and other means-tested government benefit programs. For 2024, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a total of $47,944 to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.

Once again this year, The Arc of Rensselaer County received $35,580 to provide guardianship services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who would not otherwise have a legal guardian or advocate. Supported by Chapter staff and community volunteers, The Arc of Rensselaer County’s Guardianship Program currently provides guardianship support and services to 7 people and is ready to assist 1 more as a Standby or Alternate Standby guardian.

NYSARC Trust Services also awarded The Arc of Rensselaer County $12,444 to support new recreational opportunities and enrich the lives of the more than 100 individuals it serves. The Arc of Rensselaer County plans to use the recreation grant funds to allow adults and children with disabilities to attend events that would otherwise only be a dream. This year our participants were able to enjoy trips to the zoo including the Bronx zoo as well as the Utica zoo, going to the movies, trips to Lake George including rides on steamboats, participants also enjoyed numerous local fairs, Tri-city Valley Cat games, bowling, trampoline parks as well as an adventure at the Great Escape theme park. The Arc of Rensselaer County continues to look for new and exciting activities that our participants can attend thanks to the support of the NYSARC recreation grant
